Sony LMD-A240 24″ Monitor (LCD)

Sony LMD-A240 24″ Monitor (LCD) is a portable, 1920×1200 resolution monitor for on set, studio, and broadcast use. The monitor features an IPS LCD display with wide 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angles. It also provides 3G/HD/SD-SDI, HDMI, and composite inputs, which support NTSC/PAL, 720p, and 1080i/p, input signals with frames rates from 24p to 60p.

Overview

The Sony LMD-A240 24″ Monitor offers Full HD resolution, with a lightweight and compact design. There is more than a 12% to 22% reduction in mass, 30% reduction in depth, and more than 25% reduction in power consumption, when compared to Sony’s previous models. The LMD-A Series offers the same user-interface design, convenient features, functions, and operability as PVM-A Series OLED picture monitors. This consistency between the PVM-A and LMD-A Series brings great user benefits when both types of monitor are used. Furthermore, LMD-A Series monitors provide versatility for a wide range of user applications both in the studio and in the field. These include DC operation, wall-mount and yoke-mount holes, and an optional protection kit (BKM-PL17). Additionally, there are the latest camera-linkage functions, such as camera and lens metadata display.

This also includes Picture and Picture function, providing the convenience of working efficiency both in the field and in the post process. LMD-A240 expands and enhances the monitor’s ability to support 4K production, shopping channels, field and graphics applications. Sony continuously improves the LMD-A Series. The LMD-A240 now achieves HDR capability and is able to answer the highest demands of HDR production.

The Sony LMD-A240 24″ Monitor is a cost-effective yet highly capable entry solution for HD/HDR and 4K HDR production. The monitor is one of the first HD picture monitors to support EOTF of S-Log3, which allows for seamless integration into Sony HDR Live production workflow. While also supporting ITU-R BT.2100(HLG), LMD-A240 will also easily integrate with Sony camcorders to enable Instant HDR workflow.
SMPTE ST2084, S-Log3, S-Log2 and 2.4 (HDR) are also supported for a variety of video productions.

The monitor introduces several new features and upgrades from previous LMD series monitors, including a new low latency automatic I/P conversion, new video processing engine for improved image accuracy, on screen tally, and yoke mounting screw holes. The monitor also provides a wide range of professional monitoring features, such as built-in waveform and vectorscope, focus assist with adjustable colored peaking, time code display, and a Slog2 to Rec 709 LUT.

A built-in audio decoder lets you display up to 16 channels of embedded SDI audio. Audio can be monitored using the 3.5mm headphone jack on the front panel, or with the 1W built-in speaker. A composite input with loop-out provides connectivity for standard-definition analog devices and is paired with a 3.5mm stereo mini jack audio input. Two Ethernet ports provide connectivity for serial and parallel remotes; letting you control and load monitor settings via your network, as well as upgrade the monitor’s software. For use in the field, there is a 12V DC power input on 4-pin XLR.
