Introducing the Cooke Panchro/i Classics, a set of modern lenses that pay homage to the beloved Cooke Speed Panchro lenses from the 1920s. These lenses offer the same distinctive and warm look as their predecessors but have been re-engineered with modern precision, consistency, and performance.
The original Cooke Speed Panchro, designed by Horace W. Lee in the 1920s, was a cine prime lens that chromatically enhanced an image when filming under restricted illumination. Cooke Speed Panchros combined a relative aperture as wide as f2.0 with an angular field of view and definition previously impossible with much smaller apertures. They quickly gained a worldwide reputation for quality cinema production and were widely used throughout the 20th century.
Our new Panchro, that is true to the original look of the now legendary Speed Panchro, recreates the same look and feel of the original with the advantage of modern glass mounted for today’s cameras. And, the new lenses come equipped with /i Technology for frame by frame digital information capture, as do all modern Cooke cine lenses for film and digital capture. Crafted with superb build quality, the Panchro/i Classics are designed to be versatile, durable, and easy to use on set.
These lenses feature Cooke’s renowned /i Technology, which provides frame-by-frame data on focus distance, aperture, and zoom position, allowing for precise VFX work and post-production manipulation. The Panchro/i Classics also have a focus ring that rotates 300 degrees, allowing for ultra-precise focus pulling and smooth bokeh.
Whether you’re a filmmaker looking to capture the timeless look of classic cinema or a modern production that wants to bring a vintage aesthetic to your work, the Cooke Panchro/i Classics offer a unique and high-quality option. They are suitable for use on both digital and film cameras and can deliver stunning results on everything from feature films to commercials and music videos.
Invest in the Cooke Panchro/i Classics, and add a touch of cinematic history to your next production.
